You Passionate About Team Yeshua?  Are you as passionate about Team Yeshua as you are about "Team Tim

An Editorial by Echad7thday, Passionate About Team Yeshua?

Are  Tebow", or "Team Herschel Walker"?

I had two stark contrasts within a couple of days of  each other, with two separate people who do not know each that has brought this subject to mind in the last few weeks.   The first interaction, is a member of our home group who is so "passionate" about her walk with the Lord.”  It has been humbling and refreshing.   Then, just yesterday, a neighbor had on a "Gator shirt" and I mentioned  to him "oh this family member of mine went there" and instantly the neighbor said, with a passion of those you might have seen on “Testimony Night”, that brought these stark contrasts to mind, "Well, of course, I am a Gator. Tim Tebow is the man, and even though he isn't on the team anymore, I couldn't think of being anything other than a Gator."  As I walked away, and I had already thought about this as I sat in stadiums over the years - do we "cheerlead" Elohim as much as Gators or your favorite football team?  If we deny Him before men, He will deny us before the father.   I say GO Team Yeshua!!  That is the only Team I can cheer and know that it will not let me down.  Deu. 4:29 (KJV) But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord Thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.  Deu. 4:5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.  2 Chron. 7:14 (NKJV) If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Please understand that my example of  football teams is not to be construed as I dislike football, but only to be mindful that any one thing is not to become a replacement for your walk (Halacha) with Elohim.  Another example that comes to mind in recent years that I have experienced ,wherein I attended a motivational conference a few years ago at the World Conference Center in Atlanta, that is held around the country with some of the speakers being Rudy Guiliani, John Smoltz, Zig Ziglar and many others.  Now these are very successful men, some there that day having made a profession of faith – others not. There were probably about 50K in attendance, and many times, over & over the audience would applaud & clap and “cheerlead” these paid motivational speakers.  I did not stand up; I did not applaud, and the person I was with, a professional partner, who professes to be a believer said;  “You are being rude”.  And I said, “Am I?”  I feel to applaud these people who are speaking things that I have heard before and brought no real value, especially eternal value, for my belief system, bordered on blasphemy, but remember this is my belief.  If the Ruach Kodesh hasn’t brought this to your mind, it is not for me to say, only to pray as you read this editorial you will examine the “teams” in your life, and make sure you are on the right team – “Team Yeshua”.  If I can’t be this passionate about my Lord, then is it in error to applaud these people who are only quoting a lot of “hot air” with no real meat to it. As you can see I wasn’t impressed.  I left and have never been to another “motivational conference”.  I like many others, am searching for meat, not milk and cookies.

This editorial on these two “teams” is not to take away from any of the successes of the people mentioned here, or the good they may do from day to day, but to elevate them above Elohim in my heart is wrong.  They are just men (or women) like you and I.  Some of them have committed adultery on their spouses, yet they were elevated at a motivational seminar?  This is the example that I am supposed to applaud?  I am supposed to be excited and just forget the basic tenets of the Ten Commandments & other tenets of my faith because the rest of the world chooses to?

Yes, they are successful people, but only in men’s eyes.  Are you successful in Elohim’s eyes and are you part of Team Yeshua?  Are you on the team that proclaims His Name?  The only one that laid down his life for us on a cross that we might still be forgiven?
